Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) witnessed another outbreak of violence as clashes erupted between student factions late Thursday night over the selection of election committee members at the Language Institute. Several students sustained injuries during the altercation, with videos circulating on social media capturing the intense confrontation.

The clash resulted in injuries to some students, who were subsequently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment. Videos depicting the violent encounter surfaced online, showcasing individuals wielding sticks and hurling objects at each other, while university security personnel attempted to intervene. Both Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and leftist groups have filed police complaints against each other, with the Delhi Police initiating an investigation into the matter. However, the university administration has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, and details regarding the extent of injuries remain undisclosed.

This recent clash echoes a similar incident that occurred last month on February 10, during a meeting convened for the JNU Students Union elections. ABVP and Left factions engaged in a dispute, alleging injuries on both sides. The altercation transpired during the University General Body Meeting at Sabarmati Dhaba, where clashes ensued between ABVP members and left-affiliated DSF, with accusations of physical altercation and disruption of proceedings.
